Each design is hand drawn on the leather band and then burned in place. I don't use templates. All of these designs flow directly from my mind onto the leather (neat trick, huh?) so each will vary slightly from the ones pictured.

The "Bottoms Up" sconce was cut from the bottom of a vintage wooden fence picket... the portion most battered and worn by time, earth and water. Each piece has its own distinct shape, carved by Mother Nature herself.
Flowers, candles, utensils and myriad other items find themselves at home within these sconces. Want a different look? Rotate the sconces 180 degrees and gain an entirely different perspective!
Each portion of fence picket I use has taken on a rustic patina only time, weather and exposure to the elements can provide. These pickets were among several old fence sections on a piece of land my dad recently purchased.
The 1/2 pint mason jar that forms the vessel on this sconce is held in place by a heavy leather strap that has been finished with a natural mixture of oils. The picket has been left unfinished. Sconce measures 13x3.5 inches and has 2 hangers on the back, so it can be inverted.
Keep in mind the sconce you order likely will vary from the ones pictured. Some have knots in various places, and some have no knots at all. If you have a preference on knots, add it in the Notes section when you make your purchase, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
