I am now accepting orders for 2015, please message me to be added to the waiting list. It is first come, first serve, and I unfortunately don't accept rush orders. I can hold your spot for a $50 deposit, and will work out details with you on timeframe and such via convos.
**Hey, I know it's long, but please read this whole description before choosing me, it will explain a lot and answer just about every question I get:**
Due to the extra time that goes into custom work, $250 is now the BASE price for a belt on the simpler side. Just to give you pricing perspective, the belts pictured range from $250-325 (3rd photo being a 325-er). And the sky is really the limit here- hand beading, expensive and/or antique elements, densely packed treasures or elaborate drapes- these are all options. If you have something more elaborate in mind, message me and we can figure out a budget. :) I will be updating you often, uploading pictures, basic sketches, searching out the perfect materials, sending ideas and will consult with you for every major decision. I love to collaborate, it has helped me grow as a costumer and I want you to feel included in the process (hence the higher pricetag, as this takes more time than you might guess!).
If you're looking for a less expensive piece, keep an eye out for my ready to wear and "student" pieces. :) I will be taking requests on those, so let me know if there's something you'd like to see (i.e. "34 inch black, silver & rhinestone" etc). Requests are taken at my own discretion and timeframe. :)
LOTS and LOTS of extra work, love and seamstress training goes into these babies. It will be curve shaped to properly fit your body. The belt is attached in the front with heavy D-rings or O-rings (these will have to be tied together with a shawl, ribbon, etc while wearing). I use several layers of fabric and heavy interfacing on my belts to properly secure and protect the textiles and stitches. The inside of the belt will be fully lined with comfy corduroy. I pay the utmost attention to structural integrity, and put in lots of work to make sure your piece will last! And yes, I am a dancer and have rigorously tested my designs.
All embellishments are hand sewn on with heavy duty thread, but the bases are machine sewn with several layers of fabric for durability and heavy duty strength techniques my momma taught me. Your piece will be sturdily stitched together, with reinforcements to insure that it stands up to the most vigorous shimmying & shaking, and should last you years to come!
Please be prepared to tell me as much info as you can, including styles you like, costumes you already own, colors, materials, design elements, and so on. Have some sort of symbol, sigil, numbers, or other sacred intention? I'd love to work that in too! I want you to feel like a total goddess when you hit the stage, and your costume should reflect YOU and your wonderful unique style!
While we're on the subject, I know [insert famous dancer here] has amazing costumes, but please don't ask me to copy them, or get your heart set on something I've made in the past.. :) I often use one-of-a-kind materials that are impossible to find again.
Be very cautious with your measurements, as my pieces are built to stay together and therefore can't easily be altered or taken apart. Please use caution while storing, transporting, or cleaning them, especially with drapes & chains, which can tangle and excessive force can break them. I recommend air drying and spot cleaning ONLY, with an occasional and gentle hand washing. A half and half mix of vodka & water in a spray bottle works excellent for removing any odors.
A note to other sellers and internet citizens- *pretty pretty please* do not copy any element of my shop- be it my designs, text from my Etsy listings, policies, or use photographs without a linkback or credit. I do look from time to time, and take notice. There is plenty of inspiration to go around, and you will be more successful the more respectful and original you are, trust me!
Need a matching bra, headpiece or skirt? No problem, I make it all! ;) I can do package deals for costume ensembles or troupes, contact me for a quote. Let me know if you'd like to add horse hair tassels, I'll give you a little discount! :)
Ships via priority service both domestic and international, with insurance and tracking included. Cheaper international options are available, but since I can't track or insure, choose this option at your own risk. I realize the rates for international shipping have gotten steep, and will refund any overages automatically! In the unlikely event of loss or damage, make sure to save any packaging as evidence for the postal service, and contact me to negotiate replacements. :)
