Book is hardbound with a red cloth binding, black fern decoration and gold detail. Book is in good antique condition, with some cover wear and spots of discoloration on the cloth cover.
Binding is intact but loose and there are small rips in the seam on the inside front and back cover. I believe book binding tape would greatly improve this. Pages are cream, and there are some foxing spots on pages. Notably on the inside few pages, including the portrait page. There are a few additional spots on occasional pages, close to the binding. Otherwise, book is intact, and very readable. Display's beautifully, and really has an incredible telling of Dr. Livingstone's experience!
