I have been dreaming of Disneyland for a few months. It's been on my mind so much lately that I felt the need to design and create a Mickey Mouse themed quilt. I can not be more thrilled with how this quilt turned out. As I was sewing this all I could think about was Disney's Wonderful World of Color.
Forty-two Mickey ears in the colors of the rainbow make this quilt up. All 7 colors of the rainbow make up each row ... red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise (instead of traditional blue), a light purple and a dark purple. Each row of Mickey heads is separated by a solid strip of colored fabric. I couldn't get enough of the rainbow and you will find it on the back of the quilt and on the binding. The back of the quilt has 14 blocks of fabric and one very special Mickey Mouse head. The binding on the quilt is done at an angle to make it look like it is twisting around the edge of the quilt. I have used black fabric for the background to make the colors pop.
I used Kona cotton for the entire quilt. I have used Warm & Natural 100% cotton batting. Each Mickey head was cut out and appliqued on. There will be slight differences in each Mickey as they are hand cut and stitched.
This quilt measures 55" x 46". It would be perfect to cuddle up on the couch with while you watch your favorite Disney movie. If you have a toddler in your life this would make a perfect nap time blanket for them.
All of my fabric is pre-washed before I start sewing. I have washed this quilt to break it in so that it is nice and soft when it is shipped to you. I have used Tide Free & Clear. This is a smoke free sewing home. If you have animal allergies please know that Buddy the fantastic cat lives here.
Care of your quilt is simple ... wash and dry on a cotton setting and dry as normal. If you would like your quilt to last longer it can be washed on a delicate setting in cold water with mild detergent and tumble dried.
