It folds up on itself and closes with an elastic loop, and it is made without lining so it doesn't need much fabric and rolls up nice and small. But the best bit...it's designed to fit into the wire rack used by many supermarket checkouts to hold the plastic bags open. So you won't need to double-handle goods into your bag as the cashier passes them to you, and they won't have to find a spot on their workspace for your bag. It's good for everyone! The dimensions for the body of the bag are about 19.5" across and 16" high.
For this pattern you will require 60cm (24”) of a medium weight fabric (this allows for a one way design on the fabric and assumes the fabric is at least 118cm (46 ½”) wide). You will also need 12cm (4.5”) elastic – choose an elastic with a width around 6mm (¼”).
The pattern is supplied to you as two PDF files. One containing the instructions with colour pictures and tips to get you through. The other is a printer friendly file for the pattern itself. Just print on A4 or US Letter size paper at 100% without borders and sticky tape the sheets together at the edges. These files are now available for instant digital download but I am still available to assist you at teapotandsnail [!at] gmail.com.
I am happy for you to sell your finished bags on Etsy as long as you credit Teapot & Snail as the designer on your listing page and do not mass produce the bag.
