This is an actual page cut from an article entitled "Wildlife of Everglades National Park" in a 1949 issue of National Geographic. (The magazine itself was deaccessioned from a school library and was too worn and damaged to be sold intact.)

Beautifully painted illustration by Walter A. Weber shows a bobcat in an encounter with a diamondback rattlesnake. The reverse is another illustration by Weber for the same article, of Swallow-tailed Kites.

Size: Page is approximately 10 x 6-5/8 inches.

Condition: Light-to-average wear.

Award-winning wildlife illustrator Walter Alois Weber (1906-1979) was for many years a staff artist and naturalist for the National Geographic Society. He once said that his favorite subject for painting was the animal, bird, or plant with which he had had his most recent experience, and that the average length of time for doing a painting, including research, was about a month. [Thanks to for this biographical information.]

This illustration would look quite handsome framed. Great gift for wildlife lovers and anyone interested in the native flora and fauna of Florida and the Everglades.
