Berberis is also known as Devils Wood because of it's striking luminescent dangerous looking yellow colour. These three beaters are slightly oval in shape, so sit comfortably in your hand. Nice various weights.
Sizes are:
8" (20cm),
8 1/4" (21.75cm)
8 3/4" (22.5cm)
The last and longest beater is made from laburnum - with nice cream and brown contrasting wood. Finely turned to a lovely tooled finish.
Size : 10 3/4" (28cm)
All oiled with walnut oil.
Would make a lovely present for a folk lover or drummer.

How I work:
I work in England in the woodlands without electric power tools, using instead only hand tools, a foot powered lathe similar to that which would have been used in the medieval times and hand forged tools. I believe in an ethical, low impact way of working sustainably with the wood so quite often I'm using whatever wood is available to me at the time. This is as green and eco-friendly as it gets! It is also extremely rewarding for the soul.
I aim to achieve an excellent tooled finish, whilst leaving something of the character of the wood within the piece. I favor interesting cracks and knots, and like a piece of pottery, the characteristic circular marks from the turning can be seen close up.
I hope you appreciate my work, thanks for looking!
