It was given to me personally by Sonny King.
Sonny King was a well known tenor on the national night club circuit in the 40s through 60s, and often worked the big rooms in the Las Vegas of yesteryear with Jimmy Durante and Peter Lawford. He was Dean Martin's roommate at the Bryant Hotel in NYC in 1945 before Dean hooked up with Jerry Lewis the following year in Atlantic City at Skinny D'Amato's 500 Club. Sonny appeared in "Robin and the 7 Hoods" as one of Sinatra's seven gangster buddies- he was the one who was always knitting. He was good friends with both Frank and Dean, as well as the great chanteuse Keely Smith, for his entire life.
I am a professional television videographer & editor, and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for my 1999 A&E Biography of the Rat Pack. I met Sonny King when I shot his interview for that program. This photo was slated to be used as artwork in "The Rat Pack", but never made it to the final cut.
It is unframed. Measures standard 11 by 14 inches. This is an original proof, which has original grease pencil marks indicating where it had to be retouched before distribution.
I guarantee this photo to be Original and Genuine, and the photographs of it in this posting to be unretouched. Please feel free to inquire about any aspect of the photo.
