This bag was from Froedert Malt in Milwaukee and has the Bemis logo on the reverse.
The idea for the Great American Flea Bag was born when I acquired hundreds of grain sacks last year and began selling them. Many of them have were shunned if they had stains, a flaw in the fabric, small holes or patches. I happen to love "honest" vintage working-class textiles and did not want to see the bags discarded because they weren't 'perfect'.
You will get the tote pictured above. No two totes are alike, since each grain sack is an authentic farm-used bit of American history and shows it's age in it's own way . You may expect to find any of the following: stains, mends, occasionally a tiny hole, patches, fabric flaws, faded graphics, discoloration, snags, wear...... ****Please be sure to DOUBLE-CLICK ZOOM to enlarge the photos to full page size where you'll best be able to see this bag.
You can pack a whole passel of flea market treasures into one bag. (Of course you may feel free to use your bag for other uses - like when you need to pick up eighteen baguettes at the bakery, take your laundry home to Mom, or pack lunch for the entire family if your name is 'Duggar'.............)
This tote was made by an imperfect American from an imperfect vintage American grain sack.
Fleabags proudly embrace the character bestowed by decades of use on American farms.
