This is a really pretty ring I purchased from England....made in the late Deco to retro era and nicely crafted of solid 18K yellow gold and platinum...and featuring a bright and fiery natural diamond.
The brilliant cut diamond is approximately 3.5 mm in diameter and so I estimate it to be approximately .16 carats. It's a very fiery and brilliant stone and quite white and clean, too. I would estimate it to be in the H - I range of near-colorless and it is completely eye clean. Under my loupe it looks pretty clean, too, though I think I see one inclusion under magnification - and no carbon at all. It is much more white and fiery than I could capture in my photos!
The prongs and head are platinum with the setting having a pretty fluted diamond shape to it that really sets off the stone. It's different and yet understated at the same time. The rise off the finger is approximately 5.2 mm.
The band is solid 18K yellow gold and is very simple and strong at approximately 2 mm in width. The inside of the band is marked "18ct" and with a design number of "0887." The band is sturdy and shows no thinning or signs of ever having been sized.
Currently, the ring is a size 6.5 and could be sized by a jeweler if desired. The ring has a nice weight of 3.25 grams.
In overall excellent vintage condition, this would make a lovely engagement or wedding ring...or just a lovely diamond ring to enjoy any time!
