Early October is what I think of when I look at this handmade quilt. It is made from a brand new collection by Sandy Gervais for Moda called Late Bloomers. Brown, red, gold, tan and teal are all framed by a light lattice and red cornerstones. The colors are so warm, and SO FALL! This quilt will stand out in any room and is the perfect size for watching TV, tossed over the back of a couch or chair, or folded at the end of a bed. It measures 48 x 58.
I machine quilted the quilt with Warm and White cotton batting and stitched in a free motion, all-over meander design with light brown cotton thread. The backing is shown in the last picture and has a light background with a red print on both sides of the same cream I used for the lattice on the front of the quilt. The binding is made double and stitched to the front of the quilt, then turned to the back and hand stitched down to finish.
My quilts are made to be used and loved and when washing is necessary, this is easy to do in the machine. Use cold water and a gentle cycle, then dry in the dryer on a low setting, or the quilt can be laid flat or hung to dry.
The beginning of Fall will soon be upon us.....welcome it with this gorgeous quilt!
