It would be hard to imagine Catholicism without St. Francis of Assisi. Born wealthy to the son of a fabric merchant in Italy, he was interested in the poor early on. One day when a beggar came by, St. Francis ended up giving the man all he had with him. Eventually he himself decided to live in poverty, begging for the poor and ministering to people in the streets. He started to preach, and eventually gathered a following. In time, when the following was large enough, he was allowed to found the Franciscan order. He spent lengthy time in retreat, and was known for preaching to the animals and birds. Later in his life, he received the stigmata, or the wounds of Christ, from an angel in a vision. He suffered with these wounds for the next few years until his death. He died singing Psalm 141. He was declared a Saint only 2 years later.
The doll and clothes will need to be cut out by YOU - most scissors will work on the magnet paper.
All the dolls are made by me, collaged either by hand or in the computer. I print them off on my inkjet printer on 8.5 by 11 inch magnetic paper.
