This painting is a quickly rendered expressionist landscape, I was warming up for a session creating some abstract class lesson plans, and it just happened. As it turned out, I loved the putty-colored sky, it was so moody, and the looming shapes look like mountains and a fjord or something. It begged to be a landscape, not just an abstract, so I consented to add a moon. Moody!. It reminds me of Frodo making his journey, but the northern looking landscape doesn't exactly look like Mordor. Ha! Whatever it is, it seems to remind me of the steadfastness and courage in the face of sometimes bleak circumstances which is required of us all, because, don't you know, we're all on a journey.
