Copper Hoop Earrings with Spinel Stones, OOAK Hoop Earrings, Bound and Coiled Hoops Original Artist Design. Copper hoop earrings of a nice size dangle from ear wires and are wire wrapped with natural spinel stones for OOAK design. Larger hand formed hoops of coiled coated copper wire are wrapped with finer wire to capture a set of faceted spinel roundels. Dusty muted pastels were the inspiration here coupled with the bright, singing glow of natural copper. These slightly rustic hoops dangle freely from hand formed coated copper ear wires for a pair of totally original WillOaks Studio earrings.

I got my first strand of multi colored spinel stones over a year ago and because there was such a wide range of natural colors included, I wasn't sure where to begin using them. After taking the strand apart and organizing them about a zillion different ways, I finally committed to a few collections, including this group of naturally muted pastel colors for the stones that I've used in these larger free hanging copper hoops.

I began to invent with this coiled hoop design several years ago and it's taken many finished forms over time. This version is a larger hoop that measures just over 1 1/2" (40 mm) outer diameter and 1 1/8" (30 mm) inner diameter. They measure 2 1/4" (58 mm) from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the hoop. 17 faceted spinel roundels in an exquisite range of pinks, mauve and warm pastel colors are arranged along the bottom of each hoop and captured with wire binding. A unique stone collection and a creation from WillOaks Studio that is OOAK. These substantial earrings are definitely attention-getters and will coordinate with many of the fall fashion colors and outfits for autumn and winter, including many of the pieces here in my studio that include copper and brown and copper colors.

The shepherd's hook style ear wires have been formed of coated copper so that these hoops will swing and dangle freely and will not tarnish or discolor while being worn.

True spinel has long been found in the gemstone-bearing gravel of Sri Lanka and in limestones of the Badakshan Province in modern day Afghanistan and of Mogok in Burma. Spinel is found as a metamorphic mineral, and also as a primary mineral in rare mafic igneous rocks. It has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale (Wikipedia) Sometimes called the great imposter as the range of colors that it can be found in have similarities to many other different precious stones.
