You are viewing A 1940's floor length gown made from a peach or coral satin...I believe it is a duchess satin. Duchess satin is what they use to make wedding gowns. It's a nice heavy satin that holds its' shape good! The sleeves are short cap sleeves. The bodice is form fitted, the neckline is a V with a fold back collar, that looks somewhat like lapels. The waistline is normal in front and curves down in back..ending with a small peplum or bustle that hangs down over the back side. The dress has a full length skirt.
The dress could be dated anywhere from 1946 - 1952...but this style was the high style in 1946-47. There's a metal zipper on the side for closure. The bust line has gathers for fullness. Eight self buttons run down the front of the bodice, and are there only for decoration. The back bustle is so cute...it is made from two flaps that come together to make one. Both top and skirt of the dress are decorated with appliques and shiny colorful studs with some hand painted stems for connecting the decorations together. The appliques are black butterflies made from shiny black flower-shaped sequins. The black really goes nice with the peach color.
* Bust: Up to 36"
* Waist: up to 30"
* Length: about 18.5 " from shoulder to waist.
* Length: about 37" waist to hem.
* Hips: Full
Condition: No bad odors. Excellent wearable condition with no holes or tears...just see one dart that needs to be reinforced in the back of the bodice...I think you can see it in one of the pic. And I see about 3 small spots, may come out with a professional cleaning. I see 3 tiny dot size snags, not noticeable at all! Not sure if all of the colorful rhinestones are there, I looked it over carefully and couldn't find any that are missing, so if there is...no one would ever know. Unless there were studs on the tiny dot size snaps. One could actually put some studs on those places if wanted. Around the bottom of the skirt there is some soiling...the dress does need a professional cleaning.
A wonderful dress to wear or collect! Also great for stage!
