This PDF sewing pattern is for a sweet little girls dress and pettiskirt. The dress features a simple A-line shape with a round neckline, back opening zipper and little cap / ruffle sleeves. The pettiskirt is a simple elastic waist skirt with 2 rows of tulle attached to the bottom. (You can use purchased tulle trim, or see my other pattern for how to make your own http://www.etsy.com/listing/79538379/pdf-sewing-patterns-tutorial-for-making )
We have made this dress with 2 layers of fabric, treated as one, so technically it's not lined. We did this as the top layer was crochet lace fabric, and therefore see-thru. We show you how to use 2 layers in the pattern, but you can easily make this dress with a single layer of fabric. We have made our own little flower trims, but the instructions for making these are not included in the pattern. You could use purchased flowers, or make your own if you know how. We have just used a simple length of ribbon for the belt, but you could make your own, or use a purchased belt and buckle. This would look especially good if you made the dress in a denim, topstitched with tan thread, and used gingham ruffles on the pettiskirt instead of the tulle. Just an idea!! The options are endless!!
It includes sizes 9 months to 3 years. (The pattern includes a size / measurements chart at the beginning to help you work out which size you need. If you need to know this BEFORE you buy the pattern, please just convo me and i will send you the chart)
This pattern is Level 2, as it has facings, a zipper, and sleeves. (which of course there is photos and detailed instructions to help you) You may interface the facings if you wish, but it is optional. (I know some people avoid using interfacing, so you don't have to use it if you find it a bother)
For more info on each Level please see my Shop page here; https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/laurenceandcarmine
You don't have to use a serger for this pattern, but if you do have one, it would be neater to finish your seams off with one, as the dress is not lined. Of course you could always use your sewing machine to zigzag the seam allowances if you wanted to.
Please note that you will receive a PDF digital file attached to an email. You WILL NOT receive a hard copy in the mail.
The patterns include a size chart, full list of materials and tools needed, which you can view before you purchase, as it is included as the last photo on each listing.
ALL SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED, so you do not have the bother of trying to add them on yourself.
Lots of color photos to make each step easier.
