A good desk lamp should be a pleasure to look at and provide adequate lighting for your important papers and projects. This lamp achieves both of these goals with ease.
This lamp is made out of a solid piece of air-dried North American walnut.
The most impressive aspect of this piece is the finish. You have to see it in person and feel it for yourself to truly appreciate it. The walnut was finished by hand using a Danish oil. Five coats of oil were applied, and each coat was hand-rubbed to achieve a very smooth finish. After the finished cured, a coat of european wax was applied to provide protection.
The bottom of the lamp is finished in luxurious green velvet, and the lamp is operated by a satisfying toggle switch on the top.
I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect bulb for this lamp. Part of its charm is the un-shielded nature of the light -- not just any bulb would work. After experimenting with incandescents, LEDs and others, I finally settled on an old-fashioned Edison bulb. You can see each distinct filament in the bulb, and the bulb gives off a comforting warmth The bulb is just the right power so as to not cast a harsh effect on your desk. It looks amazing at night. Your lamp will come with a brand new copy of the Edison bulb that is in the pictures.
Care instructions are included.
The lamp is 6 inches wide, 2 inches deep, and 4.5 inches tall. With the bulb installed, it is 9.25 inches tall. The cord is approximately 9 feet long.
