The dimensions of this birdhouse are 7" wide by 5 1/4" deep by 13 1/4" tall. This would be a very good size for sparrows, tree swallows, wrens, and chickadees.
This house is first constructed, then the roof is carved and then we putty nail holes and sand it. Once it has been tacked off we spray it with a clear coat to seal it, I then take it in the studio and prime it with a white sealer, that gives the paint a good base once I start painting it. After all the detail work is finished in the painting of the house, Steve takes it back out to the shop and gives it at least six coats of clear coat. We have been asked several times if our birdhouses are ceramic because they have a very deep look to the paint.
These houses were built to be functional birdhouses but many of our customers collect them to decorate with. Some use them out on their patios others use them in their houses as decor.
We have been told by several customers that if you put a dollop of citrinella candle in your birdhouse it won't bother the birds and it will keep the bees away. It works, we used it in our birdhouse on our porch and the bees and wasps don't bother with it.
