Bloom: Early Spring- Fall
This celestial show of colors has been homegrown in my auntie's garden without chemicals or pesticides!
Love in a mist earns its common name with a tangle of ferny, fennel like foliage that form a mist around the flowers. Flowers start off as interesting puffs, open into rich toned, straw-flower like blossoms and change into equally attractive seed pods(picture 5).Always recognize it by its unique mist of airy bracts and foliage, this flower is a surreal and otherworldly addition to any pot or patch. The foliage is ferny and wispy, the flowers are fluffy and the seed pods are intriguing (picture 5)
Growing no more than 18 inches in height, this flower forms compact bushes that bloom endlessly throughout the entire spring, summer, and fall. Plants will be entirely covered with the eye-popping blossoms like that in photo 3. Flowers will change color as they age, beginning in a dark shade of azure and then lightening to a soft sky blue. Although the flower is an annual, it will readily reseed itself at the end of the season. You can also harvest the odd looking seed pods and keep the seeds for future planting or gifting.
