Size: 26x32 x 1 1/2 inches deep
Surface: Cradled Masonite (Brown hardboard) , no frame needed, painted black on the sides, wired ready to hang. I build a wood frame, then the masonite is attached to the frame. I then apply 4 coats of Gesso and sand after each coat . The sides are then painted black. Unlike canvas where you sometimes see the texture of the canvas showing through, the Masonite is a perfectly flat surface. Because the Gesso is applied with a brush you will see subtile brush stroke on surface.
Wired and ready to hang!
No frame needed!
Varnished: Yes
Authenticity: Signed front and back,Certificate of Authenticity included.
100% money back guarantee: Return Within 7 days. If you are not happy, I am not happy either.

-----------------------ABOUT DEREK--------------------------
---------------------------Hi-------------------------------
Welcome to my world of art. I have been a Professional Artist for nearly 20 years, my sole income is from art. I have exhibited in many of the top ranked juried art shows throughout the nation. From Texas to the East Coast. See a partial show list at the bottom! Some of these shows receive up to 2000 applications from artist across the nation, with only 250 being chosen to exhibit. The competition is fierce to get in these shows. I have been fortunate enough to have been chosen to exhibit in this caliber of show nearly 200 times. So the work you are purchasing has been judged by art Professional many times and is truly, gallery quality. I'm getting older all the time and so is the continual traveling. So, I have turned my attention to the internet. Hopefully this will allow me to paint more, and will lower my expenses allowing me to offer you Gallery quality paintings at affordable prices. I am Gallery represented, I have won many awards, one of my paintings is in the National Museum of Sports Art. I give demonstrations in Schools and Churches. I have sold on Ebay for 2 years and have 100% positive feedback on 370 feedbacks given, representing over 700 original paintings sold. Please! Please! Ask any questions you may have. Thanks for stopping, I appreciate your consideration.
--------------WHY I PAINT AND WHERE I LIVE------------------
Painting took me quite by accident. At the age of 26, I had a serious back injury, which left me literally laying on the floor, flat on my back for 7 weeks. As I lay there watching TV, I happened upon PBS. I saw Bob Ross doing painting demonstrations. He is the fuzzy headed guy, painting happy little tree, oil paintings. I had an epiphany watching him paint a scene of a waterfall. I got a set of paints and 6 months later I started selling paintings. I live in Memphis, Indiana which is 12 mile from Louisville Kentucky, with my wife and 2 sons. We live in a restored 1924 farmhouse and I have a working studio/gallery that I built in a barn behind our home.
-----------------------The Process--------------------------
---"The Light shines brightest in the darkest of nights"---
The focus of all of my landscapes is light. Without light there can be no life. Without light, it's just a flat piece of paper. I don't want to just paint a pretty painting. I want each painting to have a mood, and to tell a story. I want you to feel the temperature, is it cool or hot, is it Summer or Fall? Has a storm just passed, or is it waiting on the horizon? The mood of the painting is set with light and shadow. You will quickly grow tired of a Pretty painting. However, if a painting evokes an emotional response from you, you will never grow tired of a feeling. If it tells you a story, you will never tire of the story.
I paint very freely with a very minimal plan, usually with no drawing or sketching. I draw with the paint. I paint the sky first. I study the sky until I decide what the painting is going to be. This may happen immediately, or it may take a week. Each painting is an act of discovery, I'm never certain how it will turn out until I am finished.
When I first started painting decades ago, my paintings were very tight and I used very small brushes. I would draw everything out first, in great detail. My art has become more fun and spontaneous with each passing year. Why do it if it's not fun! I am like one of the Lost boys in Peter Pan,I want to play all the time and never grow up.
