CARE INSTRUCTIONS The bracelets require no maintenance. They should be removed before showering, swimming, and working out but they will not be damaged by getting wet occasionally and they can be cleaned with water and a dry cloth. Bracelets with sterling silver beads can be polished with a dry silver polish cloth if necessary.

The jewelry originated in a 10,000 year old exotic culture in northern Europe. The indigenous Sami People can be found in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. The Sami lived on the land before the rest of the Scandinavians arrived.
There are still 3,000 Sami (formerly called Laplanders) who live near or above the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland who own herds with sometimes thousands of domesticated reindeer (caribou) and who have reindeer husbandry as their livelihood. By purchasing items made of traditional Sami materials, we help support the existence of this unique reindeer herding population and their remarkable craft traditions.
Sami artisans have made beautiful household items, shoes, clothes, art and crafts of reindeer leather with antler details and embroidered with spun pewter for hundreds of years.
SwedArt jewelry has been handmade of soft top grade reindeer leather and high quality spun pewter wire (nickel free alloy with 4% silver). Most other leathers have been chrome tanned but Swedish reindeer hides have been vegetable tanned (with bark) so the leather is environmentally friendly as well as fine to wear for people with chrome allergy. In addition, some SwedArt leather fashion colors are made of fine European lambskin. The wire is spun around a strong synthetic sinew thread and made on a small machine in northern Sweden. In the old days, it was made completely by hand by the Sami who invented this type of attractive looking wire. I have also added sterling silver, fine silver, and 14k gold beads, Swarovski crystals, spun silk cords, leather cords, and pearls to contemporary new fashion styles. The antler button is made of shed reindeer antler tips, the leather loop has been reinforced with synthetic sinew, and the leather is hand sewn with strong synthetic sinew thread. Some bracelets have an exclusive SwedArt silver button.
