According to Richard LaMotte in his book "Pure Sea Glass", gray sea glass "may date back before the early 1900s...finding it would likely be on a difficulty level of one in every 2,000 pieces."
The piece used in this pendant comes from Puerto Rico and is flawless - making is even harder to come by. It is large and perfectly-tumbled. On the back, there are two "C" marks which guarantee not only authentic sea glass but very old sea glass as well.
I have hand wire-wrapped the sea glass mainly with Argentium Silver. Argentium is a higher grade of silver than sterling. It is purer and tarnish-resistant. The little wraps on the sides of the pendant were made with .925 Sterling Silver due to its pliability.
There is a pretty wave design on the front and back of the pendant. Please refer to the pictures for the detailing. The pendant is LARGE and measures measures 1 1/4" by 2" - very striking when worn! A 20" .925 Sterling Silver chain comes with the pendant. If you prefer 18" instead, please convo me.
If you would like a written history of where this sea glass was found and when as well as any possible "past lives" of the piece, one will be send upon request when the necklace is shipped.
