∆∆∆This particular design is inspired by celestial rings and designs of victorian planetary models and antique astronomical navigation devices.
Drawn, Etched, Cut and Finished in my studio out of reclaimed copper sheet. Recessed areas are blackened to bring out the contrast of the lines. Made from 16g copper plate. 100% original/ one of a kind/ handmade~ you can even see in some places where my fingerprints actually were etched into the metal.
I also accept custom orders for designs on cuffs. (i.e. portraits / architecture / plants / etc~ in addition to metal work I am an illustrator, prices discussed after project details are given)
∆∆∆Process:
Sawing out a piece of copper sheet from a larger plate
free hand drawing directly to smaller sheet of copper
etching using chemistry and electricity in home made etching tank
sawing out the form from the plate
filing down rough edges
hammering around a form to make it fit wrist comfortably
oxidizing (blackening and applying patina)
sanding (to bring out relief of raised lines)
sealing (to retain oxidation and patina)
Sizing: One size fits most~ It fits wrists anywhere from 5-7" in circumference. I can custom make smaller or larger cuffs if requested.
There are a lot of items that describe themselves as "handmade" out there on etsy that are not handmade. Please look at items closely before purchasing. There is a TON of work that goes into making real handmade items, and it shouldn't be a term thrown around for every one just harry trying to make a buck. Here is a clue: Chances are if it looks like involves the process of a printer or it looks like something you have seen at target/ includes a large amount of plastic, its not handmade- it may be hand assembled, or shipped from someone's house in the us, but its not handmade.
