the act of "seeing" is another element i'm referencing here. magnifying lenses, in theory, enable the small things we are unable to see, be shown more clearly by being enlarged when placed beneath the glass. with this necklace i'm suggesting a kind of sixth sense, a way of seeing the supernatural, or becoming more aware of things that appear out of focus or invisible to us, levitating between the spirit world and the real world. birds in mythology were often thought to be messengers from the spirit world, so in a sense, i'm suggesting a "gift" from the other side.
the "leg" of the bird acts as a handle, making this piece full functional.
the necklace is suspended from a 30 inch sterling bar link inch chain (15 inches on each side)
the pendant is 2 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide at its widest.
the bar link chain adds another textural element and mimics the shape of bones.
