This is a stunning dress by the popular late 1940's and early 1950's designer Louella Ballerino. She was known for using unusual motifs and lines as a focal point. She used a lot of ethnic cultures as inspiration and it is quite prevelant in this dress. This is a perfect example of her style and a really beautiful cotton sun dress. I had purchased this dress for myslef but I am just too busty for it!

The dress is made of cotton in an ethnic tropical print in purple, green and navy blue. It features a wide exaggerated collar in white pique. There is a tie which gathers the bust line vertically. The dress has two front hidden pockets, a nearly full circle skirt with front gathers at the waistline. There is a long back metal zipper. There is darting for fit at the bust and waist. The dress is in very vintage condition with some minor rust stains in the interior of the dress from a hook and eye above the zipper. There is also a few rust spots on the lower part of the skirt hidden in the print which is only noticeable under close inspection. I found one small hole in the lower skirt caused by rust. There is also very minor discoloration along the white trim at the hemline. The dress has been carefully hand washed and is ready to wear.
