ive never really been much into flowers. i mean, they are cool, but ive never really looked much at their shape or form before. then i got a small pond with lotus flowers in it.
they are quite amazing.......well as amazing as a flower can get.
first an alienesque bulbous awkard looking head on a stem pokes up through sludgy mushy murky water. then somehow, that alien head morphs into a blooming petalled slice of perfect form.
and its those petals, in their symetric asthetics, that have got indians inspired to create symbols of chakra energies, and is used as a symbol for a multitude of positive things. pretty trippy stuff.
and its part of what inspired me to make this belt bag. its really the adaptation of the lotus petal shape by humans that got me going. cause i have always recognized certain shapes as being 'lotusesque', but until having the lotus pond in my yard, i didnt really know where the shape came from.
so what the heck does this all have to do with this belt bag you might be wondering now? i adopted a pattern from a belt bag my brother made over a year ago, tweeked it a little(i have to give him credit here for his pattern, or he'll be a whiney baby) and started with lotus petal inspired drawings which turned into patterns, and started cutting out suede. of course, i had to use vinatge brass hardware and turquoise stone as the center focal point of the seude, cause thats what im quite into at the moment.
the rest of it really 'flowered' from this centerpoint, much the same as a lotus flowers from an alien head.
this belt is adjustable, fitting small and medium sized women....from 33-42.5 inches.
and its got a good sized pocket and two zip pockets.
not much more to say, other then you will love it.
the stones might be different from those in the picture, because when we make it again we will use new stones, and no two turquoise stones are the same. all of our turquoise stones are brilliant, because we hand select raw chunks and get them cut. bam
