Beautiful antique 5 piece Silver Plate Service from the early 1900s. This beautiful set comes from Meriden and International Silver Company. During the late 1800s and early 1900s the companies that combined to form International Silver Co. were still using both names on their pieces - both names are stamped on the bottom of each piece as well as the number 289.
The elegant set includes one 11 1/2" high coffee pot, one 9 1/4" tea pot, one 6" creamer, one 7 1/4" lidded sugar bowl and one 3 3/4" slops bowl. Slops bowls were used to empty cold tea into so you could refresh with warm tea again, hard to find with sets. You could easily use this piece as an open sugar bowl for cubed sugar. Each of the pieces is engraved with a an elegant monogram - possibly HFR - see photo. Upon close inspection, there are a few very slight dings on a few of the pieces and general wear from a set of this age but nothing one would notice during use or display. Elegant and lovely for any formal occasion, be it a holiday dinner or wedding.
