(¸.·´ (¸.·´♥ ♥ Thank you to R for the following story:

"The last three mornings she had taken her dawn walk, dolphins danced near the shoreline, seeming to slow down and play to keep pace with her walking, arcing up (she couldn't help but think) to acknowledge her. She imagined it was the same school; that they knew each other, that they recognized her from earlier mornings, that they had imagined a name for her in their language. How relieving it would be to believe that other beings were more advanced than us, even more to hope that they were watching us, that someone was watching, noticing. Thinking that we matter. Waking earlier to see us. Maybe that was why she still scanned the horizon for some sign of him, though he was never there, never would be there. But as long as she looked for him, it meant that he really existed. That was the quality of her loving, like a sentinel; like a lighthouse. She remembered her grandmother telling stories about how the island used to be. There were no streetlights, so when granddad drove down from the city she would have to stand at the end of the street with a lantern so he would know where to turn in the fog and the dark. But that was all history. These days, she had noticed herself begin to walk home along the streets instead of the beach. She told herself it was because the sand was tough on her knees but if she was honest with herself she knew it was to see Mo, who sold homemade kites outside the ice cream shop. Today she vowed to ask him to meet her early tomorrow for a walk and a kite fly, so that even if the dolphins didn't show, she would have someone to greet. "I'll tell him to be there ten minutes early," she told herself, "so that he's there waiting for me."

"After almost 20 years here, I think I've finally fulfilled the stringent naturalization requirements to qualify as an honest-to-goodness, full-fledged card-carrying Californian: I've worn flip flops to the office in January, bought a rickety Victorian fixer-upper, sent my kid to a co-op preschool, walked more than drove, started making my own granola, and vacationed the last 10 years in little Mexican beach towns no one else knows about yet. I think this cute little map and a Prius are the only things left to seal the deal. Thanks for helping me make my California dream come true! Best, Mere San Francisco, CA"

"This is a great little CA map! I was born and raised in CA... born & raised in Newport Beach, went to college in San Diego, moved to San Francisco after college b/c I LOVE that city & to attend Grad School, started my HR career at San Francisco Opera and then later worked in HR for Sutter Home Winery in Napa Valley, met my husband in Sonoma (he grew up in Marin), got married in Napa Valley and we bought our first home in Santa Rosa! I LOVE CA! We moved up here to WA state in 2003 for my husband's job and are having fun experiencing a new place (and we have 2 Golden Retrievers and a one year old son now), but travel every year back to some part of CA to visit family & friends. I am hoping to train for and "finish" the San Francisco Nike Women's Marathon next fall right after my 40th Bday (I'm not a big runner, but a goal for myself to finish as my way of entering a new decade - I ran & finished the Honolulu Marathon right after my 30th but haven't run like that since...). I am LOVING being a stay at home mom now - not currently working, and I am fortunate enough to have a small room in the house that's all my own - above my desk in my home office I have a collage of framed photos & art & misc. that are inspirational/important to me and I think this little CA map might just be perfect there! I hope to maybe someday when our son is older change career paths to work in interior design and this could be a very nice little home office to work in, but for now I just go in there for my misc. projects and to relax in my own space... ...I have mostly creams/white with touches of blue/greens in my space - so this would go perfectly! I don't know if this was the kind of story you were thinking of for the 20% discount that you offer, but it's my story... :) Thanks!"
