This is part of a series called "Forecast" which is inspired by weather (please read my bio in my Profile or About sections for more on this concept). This piece was created using a dipping technique using fabric dye on 'antique velvet' colored Somerset paper. The nature of the process allows for creating a full range of lights and darks on the paper's surface, and with this piece, the light lavender hued forms allude to seismic activity. This piece hangs in a simple black wooden frame.
"I watched the flooded willow trees bend in the wind, and the moss on the dead cypress in the bays straighten and fall, and the sunlight danced and shattered on the water when the surface suddenly wrinkled from one shore to the next." - James Lee Burke
