Three vintage c.1940’s - 1950’s Red Wing bread and butter/ salad plates in the Lotus Pattern. These lovely little plates have hand painted lotus flowers on them. The base color of the plates are creamy white and the lotus floral decoration in is beautiful chartreuse, deep rich brown and there are hints of pale brown, grey, and fuchsia. The plates are a sleek modern looking square shape with lightly upturned, rounded corners. The Red Wing Pottery company referred to this plate shape as the “Concord” shape. The Red Wing Pottery Company from Red Wing, Minnesota produced this popular pattern in the late 1940’s to the early 1950’s. The plates measure 6 ¼” across. Each plate varies in condition. One plate, I believe may be a saucer because it has an impression in the center where a cup could be placed. The saucer plate is in good condition, there is light crazing throughout the glaze, there are three small imperfections in the glaze on the back of the plate, and there are some faint discolorations on the back of the plate. The saucer has no chips and no cracks. The other two plates (salad/ bread and butter plates) are in fair condition. Both plates have more severe crazing and discoloration throughout the tops and bottoms of these plates. There are three small imperfections in the glaze on the backs of both plates. There are no chips and no cracks on either of these two plates. All plates are marked on the bottoms “Red Wing, Hand Painted” with the Red Wing logo. Despite the flaws on these little plates, they are still in usable condition and are packed with charm and character. Shipping insurance is suggested.
