Where was that confounded woman, for goodness sake, this was TIME Travel after all! His mother was right, and he most sincerely wished he had taken her advice and hired a male secretary now. This was not the time for frivolous primping! And just as he was about to flip around again for the umpteenth pace back before the console, a vision of loveliness, (a goddess of a woman really,) appeared before his eyes! She was dressed in a black and white stripped dress with the most beautiful little hat he had ever seen dipping down over one eye.....He was literally speechless when he realized it was Miss Eddington, YES! That was her name, Miss Eddington! But she had never looked like this before!
In a very uncharacteristic fashion, and a very bold act indeed, he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulled her crushingly close to him, and threw the lever! They tumbled together, still close, through time and space, and landed smack in the middle of a 1889 Big Top Center Ring! Deafening applause rent the air for their magical appearance out of thin air! Professor Thackery and his lovely assistant were to become famous all across Europe for their act which no one ever could duplicate! And now that he was master of time and space, he could support his experiments with the lavish salaries they commanded. So that was how the Dr. and Mrs. Thackery, (yes, absentminded he may have been, but he was no one's fool and married Miss Eddington on the spot!) became a legend on the continent.
And she owed it all to the little hat that framed her beauty so well. Hmm, she thought, she would have to ask her dear husband to travel back to their own time so she could get more little hats......for the act of course! But what were they going to do about the date on the money......oh never-mind, she told herself, that is what she married him for, his brains! Yes, that was it, his brains she giggled wickedly to herself and ran off to find him.
