Coral was believed to protect against accidents and was used as a protective amulet by many ancient cultures. It was also said to protect people out at sea and used to ward against evil. Turquoise is used for prosperity, cleansing, protection and spiritual enlightenment. Together these two stones were used by ancient people to protect and provide a conduit to the spirits. Blue quartz is a stone of organization and is said to reduce tension and bring mental clarity. These stones make a wonderful combination for a practitioner on the path to enlightenment.
This necklace was inspired by the many native and island peoples' pieces of art that have been created over the centuries out of corals and turquoise. The addition of the nearly translucent faceted quartz brought to my mind, a tribal priestess high on a cliff facing the ocean in obeisance to the sky and ocean gods. This necklace is a lovely way to honor the sky, earth and ocean.
