This example of a one-of-a-kind paper cut design made using an original map of Scotland was mounted to a wooden display block for easy gifting & display. It's a freehand cut out, and features an interpretation of a heart's anatomy carefully extracted from an original map with an x-acto knife.
Each heart cut out at http://www.papercutworks.etsy.com is very unique - I search through my atlas collections to find the best scaled map of the requested area. Each cutout is made out of an original vintage or outdated map and is completely unique. The photographed heart is an example of a Scotland map heart made as a Mother's Day gift. Here's what the receiver of this gift said about the art block: "I received this Heart from my son and absolutely love it! I am so impressed that you found a map with the perfect proportions and that my hometown of Glasgow is a focal point. I shall treasure it!"

Wooden blocks make unique sturdy decor pieces - you can display them sitting on a shelf or hanging on the wall. This cradled birch block frame measures 6" by 6" and is 1" thick. Paper cut art mounted to the wood is protected by a sealant for durability and gives this piece a painting-like finish as it was applied with brush strokes.
