When I moved into my mid-century home, I adopted its large perennial gardens. One day, I found a shard of dinnerware, with a bluebird pattern in the garden soil. After some research, I identified what the entire pattern looked like, and purchased some lovely saucers in the Vintage section, right here on Etsy. What a treat to have a little something to add to the fabric of my garden's history.
In honor of the gardens that have become so dear to me and that pretty little bit of archeology I found in its dark, rich soil, I created this pendant necklace.

The dinnerware shard I found in the garden, nor dishes I purchased have a stamp to help me identify the maker of what was a very popular pattern in the early and mid twentieth century. It was likely manufactured by one of several China-making companies in Ohio and was affordable for "everyday" sorts of folks. Multiple manufacturers used this bluebird pattern in this once-popular style of dinnerware, and my research indicates the bluebird illustration was likely created and manufactured by an Illinois-based decal company, and is a public domain image.
