A charming lady contemplates a budding blossom in this lovely Victorian illustration c. 1840-1860 by L. Jourdain.
The original black-and-white engraving is long out of copyright and in the public domain. I've remixed it with a modern twist by digitally hand-painting it, which took me around 8-10 hours.
And to complement the enchanting imagery, I've incorporated a quotation from the beautiful 1803 poem Auguries of Innocence by William Blake: "To see a World in a grain of sand / And a Heaven in a wild flower, / Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand / And Eternity in an hour."
This pretty print is perfect for the 21st-century lover of 19th-century art and poetry. It would look wonderful on the wall of a neo-Victorian parlor, romantic boudoir, or steampunk study.
