Circles of Bocote, Wenge, Holly, and Padauk are bubbling up from a base of Mahogany in this one of a kind pendant. This piece is inlaid with a total of 14 different wood circles. This process involves careful planning over a span of many days. The woods used were chosen specifically for their strong contrast to each other and grain patterns, and each individual circle was carefully placed so the wood grain runs in opposing directions. No matter which way you turn this piece, the light catches a different set of circles. The pendant measures approximately 2 1/8" (5.4 cm) x 1 3/4" (4.4 cm) at it's widest. It is approximately 3/8" (1 cm) thick. The pendant hangs from a 24" stainless steel chain with a lobster clasp that is extremely lightweight and delicate looking, yet has the strength of stainless steel.
Our finishing process starts with several stages of sanding. We then apply danish oil to each piece. This brings out the grain and color of the wood and helps protect the piece from moisture and wear. The piece is then waxed with a microcrystalline wax to protect this finish. We wax each piece several times, hand buffing it between each application.
Should your piece show signs of wear, buffing with an old t-shirt or other soft cloth should bring back the shiny glow it started with!
