The car appliqued and freehand embroidered is a classic French icon, car of my childhood, a Renault 4 Quatrelle. It is fully loaded with suitcases on the roof ready to cross borders and explore.
The body of the car is made from natural Irish linen, and appliqued onto vintage green floral fabric. The suitcases are made from various recycled and new fabrics.
The embroidery is done using a basic sewing machine fitted with a freehand embroidery foot. I sketch my drawings, cut the fabric to be appliqued and 'redraw' my sketch freehand straight onto the fabric using black thread.
The last photo is to help you get an idea of the size of this hoop. This listing is for the hoop shown in photos 1 & 2 only, others hoops and bobbins are not included sorry.
This piece is mounted on a 8"(21cm) embroidery hoop (made in Britain).
Ready to hang.
Each hoop is unique due to the nature of freehand machine embroidery, which I think adds to the charm. There will be slight variations from the photos shown.
