colors and design of the Irish flag have clear symbolism and historical context. The green stripe on the flag represents the Gaelic tradition, the majority of Ireland’s population and the group of revolutionaries that fought for Ireland’s independence. The orange stripe stands for William of Orange—the king of England and Ireland—and his supporters. These supporters were overwhelmingly Protestant, loyal to the British government, and often found conflict with the Gaelic Irish majority. The white in the center represents a truce, and more importantly, peace, between the two major Irish traditions.
Everyone is Irish at least once each year on St. Patrick's Day! We love these for an Irish wedding (thanks to a fellow Etsian for lighting a fire under us to get these done in advance of our plan to do so!!) Each lollipop includes three flavors: Green (lime), white (marshmallow), orange (tangerine) respectively. Want different flavors? Fine with us...just say so in 'notes to seller'. Just make sure you pick a flavor that doesn't affect the awesome flag effect! Our flavor list can be found on our policy page. Be sure you read it!
The orange lollipop shown is for a size reference only. They are approximately 1 1/4" in diameter and poured onto 4.5" sticks. They are approximately 5" tall, individually wrapped and sealed.
