First we made a patchwork of yummy hand dyed pieces of vintage linen. Then those patchwork pieces are very finely smocked, a labour of hours and hours. It stayed for several weeks to get in shape with threads, and eventually we pulled out all the threads and a delicious piece of ribbed smocked fabric was ready for use. The fabric is lined with a sturdy interface so that the smocking will not loose shape.
The bottom is a beautiful dark blue suede leather, the loops on the top are of the same leather and are holding two pieces of totally natural shaped driftwoods. The handles are not treated with anything and are found by us on the beach here in Turkey. They are strong but still need to be handled with care.
The lining is made of a vintage skirt (from the 50's) to be upcycled into a new life for this beautiful bag. It has a small inner pocket and closes with a magnetic snap.
Impossible to make the same again, a truly one of a kind!
