INSPIRATION:
This project was inspired by traditional Redwork embroidery from 19th century Europe. Prior to this period, silk was the only thread that would hold its color, but was too expensive for the common man. When a red, colorfast floss was introduced to the market at a reasonable price, embroidery spread like wildfire. It was no longer a craft for the elite. Redwork embroidery becomes a simple, elegant, and inexpensive way to decorate the home.
