This is an authentic dress/tunic from India or Pakistan (not sure!). It's got some incredibly intricate, heavy embroidery all over the back and front in a satiny, light tan/gold color cord (not metallic-probably rayon). The base fabric is a lightweight plain weave cotton. There are side slits, so it probably had pants to wear under it originally. The slits are about 19" up from the hem on both side seams. The top portion has a hook and eye closure at the center coming down about 6.5" from the neckline.
I've shown it belted in the first picture because I think these look best with a sash or belt, but the belt does not come with the dress. This listing is for the dress alone. Eventually I'll list some more of these tapestry caftan sashes but they are not too hard to track down on your own.
There is a tiny size tag sewn in that says this is a size 40- probably Euro, so that would be about a size 10 US. The fit is loose and easy, though, so that's not absolute. There aren't any darts at the bust so this could also be worn by a guy. Please compare actual measurements to your own to gauge fit.
Measured flat, the bust is 19" across (pit-to-pit).
The waist is about 18.5" across
The armholes are 10" straight across (pit to shoulder).
Hips are 21" across.
Bottom of skirt flares to 36" across.
It measures 40" long down the center back and hit the mannequin at about the knee. The mannequin is about 5' 9" so it will be longer on someone more petite. The sleeves are 17" long from the shoulder seam and are 12" around at the cuff.
This has been hand washed & drip-dried already, so you shouldn't need to dry clean it. Unfortunately this did cause some of the cord to fuzz up at the ends a little. Please look at the zoom photos, the last one of the sleeve shows the fuzzing. Otherwise the dress is in great shape, no holes, stains or smells. Might could use a good pressing, but I'll leave that up to you.
