Approx 3.8 oz, 283 yards of 70% Merino Wool, and 30% Tussah Silk. 2 Ply handspun yarn. Averaging from 10-13 WPI Medium/Light Weight Yarn.
Tussah silk comes from wild silk caterpillars and thus the caterpillars don't have to be killed for processing. The silk is collected after the caterpillars have emerged making this a vegan friendly silk!
A message about plying yarn. Plying the singles gives them balance. A single strand pulls in the direction it was spun. Spinning two or three of these spun singles in the opposite direction balances out the twist so it won't pull either way. Plying also increases the strength of the yarn and adds elasticity.
