I just adore the Cichorium piece. A true star-burst flower specimen, trapped below resin and above antique kimono silk, dangles on an antique sterling watch chatelaine. The watch pin/chatelaine itself is lovingly embossed with, what appear to me as, low-relief Chicory blossoms. In legends, Chicory (Cichorium intybus) is believed to remove obstacles or unlock doors; early American settlers used to carry pieces of this plant with them as a token of luck. A lovely patina has developed over the ages and the piece has been lightly shined to highlight the relief work. The Victorian-looking watch pin is hallmarked 'sterling.' Total size is just about one and a half inches (1.5") by one inch (1").

*Note: As with many antique watch pins, the stick-pin portion of brooch is quite thick and I would not suggest placing the item through delicate fabric. However, the thick wool of coat or a sweater would be perfect for this little pin.
