An absolutely glorious 1950’s party/prom dress in an enchanting shade of orchid chiffon! The style typifies the 50’s - oh so feminine and figure flattering – narrow draped bodice, designed to enhance the bust and accentuate a tiny waist – with a voluminous full skirt. What makes this gown so special, apart from the gorgeous color, are the exquisitely swagged panels of chiffon. No maker’s label remains but this dress appears professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is a synthetic, likely a nylon blend.
Note the special details on this lovely dress – sexy sweetheart neckline, tapered shoulder straps, bust enhancing ruched bodice, and especially the wonderfully full skirt completely draped in panels of ruched chiffon. Note the dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included in this auction.
The dress closes down the centre back with a hidden metal zipper. The entire dress is lined in a matching orchid satin acetate.
No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for proper fit. This is a small size which would best fit a modern size 2 or 4.

Condition
This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains on the chiffon and underarms are clean. On close inspection I found a tiny repair to the chiffon skirt just above the rear hemline. This is inconspicuous and does not detract from the stunning appearance of this lovely dress, but is mentioned for accuracy.
