If you wish to order a cuff in a different leather or combination of leathers, please convo me with your request!
The earliest civilizations believed the stingray brought strength and power to anyone who handled it. The backbone, resembling clusters of white pearls, was thought to be a protector of good luck and prosperity. Egyptian craftsmen prized the beauty and durability of the stingray skin by fashioning armor and other decorative items. These were discovered in the tombs of ancient pharaohs. Han and Shogun Samurai also used the raw skins for armor as well as handles on their Samurai swords. Of all exotic leathers, stingray is often the most underrated. It is highly durable (25 times more durable than cowhide leathers) and has a unique supple texture.
I want everyone to know that the stingray hide used here was not from a captive bred farm, a practice commonly used in producing other exotic leathers, but instead was caught for food, a significant source of protein for rural Southeast Asian people. The skins, unbelievably tough and difficult to work with, are merely a by-product and would normally be discarded but instead these durable, puncture and water resistant skins were converted into very useful and attractive exotic leather hides. Waste not, want not!!
I would be more than happy to make a leather cuff for you, either wide or narrow, in any of the leathers I have available. If you would like to request a leather cuff, please don't hesitate to convo me.
