Two characters on a Vespa with their trusty suitcase and three chickens in tow are appliqued and freehand machine embroidered onto natural linen with the words 'let's go'.
It is inspired by the streets of Ho Chi Minh City where two wheels truly rule. Laden with more than most of us can fit in a car, they swerve their way around the city carrying entire families, dozens of chickens, large pieces of furniture, you name it!
The embroidery is done using a basic sewing machine fitted with a freehand embroidery foot. I cut the fabric to be appliqued and draw freehand straight onto the fabric using black thread.
This piece is mounted on a large 10"/26cm embroidery hoop (made in Britain).
The last photo is to help you get an idea of the size of this hoop.
Ready to hang.
Each hoop is unique due to the nature of freehand machine embroidery, which I think adds to the charm. There will be slight variations from the photos shown.
