She turned around and sat on the floor, back to the wardrobe, legs straight out in from of her. Scanning the mess she spied the tiniest little hat box her great Aunt Matilde had sent her for her last birthday. She had not opened it as her great aunt was a bit of a nutter and surely it would contain nothing she could possibly ever wear. No one ever said she was a nutter actually, and she felt a little guilty for thinking it, but alas, it was true.
She sat in the pile, a little despondent over having no hat or dress to wear for the party. She stuck out the toe of her dainty little shoe and nudged Aunt Matilde's box sullenly, and was dumbstruck! There on the Burmese carpet lay the most adorably unique hat she had ever seen! She reached out to pick it up, not daring to question her good fortune! The hat was magnificently unusual.
It was green, no purple, no, both! Purple flocked velvet brocade ran over on side of the square little top hat, across the top, and down over the other. The two remaining sides had the same material, but were overlain with a sparkly green cob web like material. The sparkles came from random glitter in the same shade of green, (but not overly strewm, she was happy to note.) It had lovely black trim on every corner that went up over the top and crisscrossed. The brim was covered in an asymmetrical pattern of blocks of the purple, and an iridescent green material that reminded her of a mermaid's tail. And it had a lovely blusher veil in the same cob web type of lacy material that was on two of the top panels.
She sprang to her feet and the hats all seemed to jump away as if startled by her sudden movement. She ran to the mirror to put it on. Oh, she sighed, the veil made it very mysterious indeed. And the green! What a beautiful shade of green! No one would have anything close to this little square top hat. She squealed with delight and her miniature Yorkie raised it's tiny head questioningly. She absently patted his little head to soothe him.
She made a mental note to re-thank Aunt Matilde profusely, and then, just like that, she was stricken. What to wear with it, she couldn't go naked after all......and a wicked gleam slowly crept into her eyes. That would certainly leave them all talking, ha ha!
This hat is has an elastic attachment that can be hidden in your hair. Clips are available, as are ribbon ties.
