QTY: one piece
GLAZE: Lower is glazed and shiny, top is bare and lovely porcelain

**. You are getting the actual one in the first four photos. It has the smallest blemish where my finger is on photo #2 (zoom to see the yellow discoloration). In photo #3 you can see how the thumb has some black marks inside of it. You can try to use comet and a scrubbie and lighten up both these areas. (See cleaning tips below). Still displays lovely, see it in photos #1 and #4. .
History of it:
Vintage German porcelain glove mold in 6.5 size (ONE Piece) Found them in their original boxes and I used them for wedding table decorations. I used to have several thousands (yep)and I'm down to about a dozen or so left in this size. This is the most popular because the fingers are so small and a lot of adjustable rings fit on these. So you can use them for rings, necklaces, bracelets, you name it. I measured my wedding ring, it's about 2" round. It fits on the pinky and half way down the first and fore finger on this. As you can see, my customer in Finland displays her rings, so they must be larger in size. The ring finger on the glove mold is about 2" around and curved. So if you have a larger ring than mine, mens' rings or adjustable rings they will work just fine.
ThreeOldKeys.etsy.com is using this as a prop in her store,
The bottoms are shiny and heavily glazed. The hand part itself is unglazed porcelain, which is where the gloves were made, and some have marks from glove molding and making. I found that a lot of patience and a toothbrush with ajax or comet applied in a scrubbing motion will gently get most of the stains off. Some were never used and boxes up so blemishes should be minimal.
CLEANING TIPS: I think most were molded from the 60s to the 80s. The glove company closed in 1988 so all were made prior to that. Again, two different companies, and may say W. Germany or just Germany and all are white with greenish bands on base. You can read more on the history of this item here from my article: http://www.squidoo.com/vintage-porcelain-glove-molds
Rosenthal/HCT: This country was huge in porcelain production. One of Germany's leading manufacturers of the porcelain glove molds was actually Rosenthal, wherein history can be traced back to the company, Hutschenreuther, ( named from it's original founder in 1814 by Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther). You can read about the company's history here in Wikipedia and come to understand how , over time, production was in the hands of Rosenthal porcelain. It's not uncommon to still find glove molds marked "Rosenthal, West Germany The "West Germany" mark indicates the glove mold was made on or prior to 1990, when Germany went through a reunification. Rosenthal"Technik" was taken over by Hoechst CeramTec (mark of HCT) and in 1985 so it is safe to say any molds marked Rosenthal are mid 80's or prior. The company now is called Ceramtec......
