A huge sourwood tree fell in a tropical storm last year. It was at the bottom of a ravine on our property. My sweet husband cut the burl into chunks. We lashed it to my snowlsled, attached a long ski rope to the winch on my ATV and pulled it up the extremely steep ravine bank.
The burlwood has beautiful figuring and the holes in the wood add character. One woodturner I know always say that if the bowl has holes in it, then it is ART!
This bowl is about 9.5 X 3.5 inches. It has been sanded to a smooth finish and several coats of polyurethane was applied. I sanded it by hand between each coat. I have four of these bowls. All are approximately the same size. I will send more photos so that you can compare all four and choose the one you like best.
