What do you do when Christmas is over? Exile your advent calendar to the back of the wardrobe to only get it back out one year later?
Well, not this one. When Christmas has come and gone you just turn it around and use the back as a decorative wallhanging. The hanging sleeve has been attached to the top rather than the back so both sides of the quilt can be displayed.
Size: 38.5" x 38.5" (97.8 cm), size of the advent calendar pockets: 4.5" x 4.5" (11.5 cm)
Fabric:
- advent calendar side: Basic Grey Fruitcake designer collection and Oakshott dark red for the sashing
- wallhanging (back): Laura Gunn's Lantern Bloom and Poppy collections and purple and dark deep red for sashing and border
This advent calendar is hand quilted on both sides and the blocks are not entirely even but slightly wonky, especially on the left hand side.
It has not been washed as I wanted to leave it to its new owner to decide the look. Washing creates a more antique wrinkled effect that I like, but others may not.
It was a joy to make this advent calendar and I hope it will brighten your home and give you joy as well.
